Thomas Jefferson once wrote, “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.” We say, “How about you just vote?” It’s much less messy and the tree finds it equally refreshing.

And remember that your vote is just the first step. We must continue to hold ourselves and our representatives accountable to the ideals for which we voted. We’ll check in again in 2012.
